In a quiet corner of a not-so-quiet world, ANNA-LI takes the stage:

She’s a young writer-performer whose newest show is nothing short of elaborate. Determined to wake her world from nihilism, she presents the story of her mother, Shan, a portrait painter who emigrates from China to The States. There, Anna-Li charges, she ‘sells out’ to the industry — letting her artistic dreams fall prey to a desire for recognition. Is this not what Anna-Li’s peers, her audience, must renounce too?
