About Us

Varda Pictures is a budding production company based in Edinburgh, Scotland.

The company was founded in 2021 by Nadja Lapcevic, with an aim to develop and produce independent films with daring and socially relevant topics. Inclusiveness and diversion are at the centre of our work, both in crewing and in the content we create. Our mission is amplifying unrepresented voices and giving them a space in the film and television landscape. We are well-versed in co-productions and have strong ties with the Western Balkan region.

Nadja Lapcevic is an independent producer from Serbia. She graduated in Film and TV Production from The Faculty of Dramatic Arts in Belgrade. Awarded an Erasmus Mundus Scholarship, Nadja graduated in 2021 from the Kino Eyes Movie Masters. She is a LiM | Less is More, MIDPOINT Series Launch, and IDFAcademy alumna. Nadja works as an industry producer for Beldocs International Documentary Film Festival, and as a festival producer for Interaction: Short Docs Festival. She produced a short documentary Mother’s Milk which had its world premiere at Dok Leipzig and was nominated for the Silver Eye Award. In 2021, Nadja founded Varda Pictures, through which she is working on a slate of projects. In addition to her own company, Nadja is also a junior producer with Sonja Henrici Creates.
