About Us
Varda Pictures is a budding production company based in Edinburgh, Scotland.
Founded in 2021 by Nadja Lapcevic, the company develops and produces independent films that explore bold, socially relevant themes. Inclusiveness and diversity are at the core of its mission. Varda Pictures is dedicated to amplifying underrepresented voices, creating meaningful opportunities for them within the global screen industry. Previous titles include a co-production on Jeanie Finlay’s ALL RIVERS SPILL THEIR STORIES TO THE SEA, which had its World Premiere at CPH:DOX 2026, and the UK/Croatian co-production THORNTREE, a feature documentary by award-winning director Isaac Knights-Washbourn, scheduled for release in 2026.
Nadja Lapcevic is a Serbian producer based in Scotland. She holds a BA from the Faculty of Dramatic Arts in Belgrade. Awarded an Erasmus Mundus scholarship, she graduated from the Kino Eyes – European Movie Masters programme. She is an alumna of LiM | Less is More, MIDPOINT, IDFAcademy, and Doc Society RISE.
Nadja works as an industry producer for Beldocs International Documentary Film Festival and as a festival producer for Interaction: Short Docs Festival. She produced the short documentary MOTHER’S MILK, which had its world premiere at DOK Leipzig, and was nominated for the Silver Eye Award.
Alongside her work with Varda Pictures, Nadja collaborates with Sonja Henrici Creates, where she line produced the Sundance 2026 award-winning documentary BIRDS OF WAR.
